Background
From institutional derivatives operations to fractional technology leadership.
Douglas P. Simons started as an Option Clerk in trade reconciliation in August 2000, continued through Citigroup's 2004 acquisition of Knight Financial Products, and rose to VP / Middle Office Lead Analyst at Citigroup Derivatives Markets, Inc. through October 2021.
Across that period, the core work remained the same: making sure the numbers were right, every day, across high-volume financial operations where reconciliation, reporting, and judgment mattered.
When the numbers had to be right.
While on vacation in Nicaragua with no hotel internet, Douglas received a call that the primary reconciliation system had crashed, the backup had failed, and the tertiary backup had failed too. He found an internet café, plugged his laptop into a rented desk, and fixed it from there.
